Weekend Calendar: April 17th – 19th

While the dirt drivers have been able to have a few weeks of fun in the mud, weekly asphalt racing will kick off Saturday!  It also appears that the weather gods have finally decided to let up, and we should be able to get racing in around the region.

After weeks of rain-outs and a vacation, NEO Racing News finally has some new Ride ALong footage to share with you.  Friday Night at Lake County Speedway was Youth Explosion Night, and I was able to get six videos from five cars!

#82 Tyler Turner wrecked in his Legend car in Heat #1, but managed to come back for the feature and win the whole thing.  #77 Richie Kuhn and #22 Keith Platz also carried cameras during the night.  In fact, Kuhn’s video feature his first Heat win…which happened after getting spun on the last lap.  For a bit of Factory Four/Factory Six fun, Ride Along with Dylan and Mike Atwell during the Heat and Feature, respectively. Sharon Speedway “Pays It Forward” Tonight!

Sharon Speedway is set to host another special race event and its first of three midweek shows of 2013 this Wednesday night (June 12). The inaugural “Summer Bash” Pay it Forward Foundation will feature the NDRL’s United Late Model Series (ULMS) and the United E-Mod Series (UEMS). The Econo Mods will also be on the racing card. Though not on the original published 2013 schedule, Hamilton-Young Motorsports has coordinated this special event part of the 84th anniversary season that will include NASCAR racers Ken Schrader and Ryan Blaney competing in Modifieds.

Sharon Beats Rain to the Checkers

Sharon Speedway Double the Fun for Memorial Day

Sharon Speedway will celebrate the Memorial Day Weekend by hosting two events with complete shows both Saturday and Sunday nights (May 25-26)! The Bill Emig Memorial “Wild Card Weekend” will feature the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series both nights!

Saturday night will also include the Summit Racing Equipment Modifieds, HTMA/Precise Racing Products Econo Mods and Deforest Used Parts Mini Stocks, while Sunday night’s program will also have the Governor Insurance Agency DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, Open Stock Cars, and the Mini Stocks. All divisions will be racing for increased payouts. Race time is 7 p.m. both nights.

“We are really looking forward to the weekend,” stated General Manager Dave Willoughby. “We tried this two-day Memorial Day Weekend format last year, but the weather ruined Sunday’s event.
