“Springduro” Cancelled by Weather

Sharon Speedway has cancelled its “Springduro 150” scheduled for March 30th due to weather.

For a second week, the track has had to scrap plans for the event because of Mother Nature intervening with cold temperatures, rain, and snow melt.  Officials were concerned with both the 3/8-mile dirt track surface and surrounding parking areas.

“Nothing has changed since last Wednesday when we had to postpone the event, in fact with the additional rounds of wet snow and cold conditions things are worse,” explained General Manager Dave Willoughby in a statement from the track. With the cancellation, Sharon will open its season April 6th with their “Steel Valley Thunder” opener.  Six divisions of racing will take to the track starting at 4 PM, with racing starting at 7 PM.  Fans can see racing in the following divisions: Governor Insurance Agency DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, Barris Supply RUSH Late Models, Summit Equipment Modifieds, Gibson Insurance Agency Stock Cars, HTMA/Precise Racing Products Econo Mods, and the Deforest Used Parts Mini Stocks.  Adult tickets are $13, kids aged 13 and below are free through the gates.

Sharon noted in their press release that the “Sprinduro” is not currently rescheduled, but that the track would look into adding an Enduro later in 2013.  Drivers that had entered the race will be refunded their entrance fee.
